Don’t Drop Your iPhone In The Toilet

by Jon Holato on October 15th, 2007

Apple Insider and numerous other Mac-related sites are reporting that the iPhone and iPod Touch contain water-damage sensors at the base of their headphone jacks. The sensor is a white disc that will irreversibly change colors when put in contact with water, thereby voiding your warranty from Apple. So do yourself a favor, and keep that iPhone in your pocket when near aquatic environments.

Has anyone successfully removed this white sticker of voided warranty?

This is true. An Apple representative revealed this to me accidentally as he was checking to see if this was the case with my iphone malfunctioning. He couldn’t help not tell me what he was doing, as the people in the genius bar are usually relentlessly conversational with their troubleshooting. This one was one where he slipped up.

Yea I went to an apple store for an exchange (stupid stuck pixels… 12…) and the first thing the genius did was look into the headphone jack.
