Bill Maher’s joke is that you could have spent that $200 on something for your girlfriend. But I guess since she’s the type who will wait in line FOR YOU, she doesn’t care how she’s treated anyways

You say “nerds” couldn’t afford the iPhone, but “business folk” can. Haha. Of the nerds and business folk I know, the nerds make just as much.

I keep seeing people use “jealousy” a reason for bashing the iPhone early adopters. Errrr… I think thats a bit delusional; I think you what you may not understand is that most really really don’t care about having the newest and greatest phone (or any other gadget), especially if it isn’t necessary. It’s just really hard for many of us to comprehend spending a significant amount of time and (extra) money on something that will predictably decrease in price and increase in availability in the relatively near future.

If you are happy with your purchase and glad you waited, that’s wonderful; but don’t assume someone is jealous when they don’t understand your priorities.

actually i found the joke to be hilarious.

seriously, calm down, just because youre a businessman with a girlfriend doesnt mean most, or many of those people standing in the line werent hyped up fanboys with nothing better to do than wait 6 hours to spend $600 on a phone.

Meh. I think he’s right *and* lame all at once — picking on Apple fans has always been picking at low-hanging fruit

That said, you *always* pay a premium for buying something shiny and new when it first comes out. There’s no sense in whining that the people who waited awhile to buy one didn’t pay as much.

I stood in one line, once, on a “Black Friday,” for one specific purpose: I couldn’t sleep anyway and I wanted to see just how crazy people actually get in those lines. Damn that was fun
