18-Year-Old Teen Sells Virginity For $20,000+
Baby-faced 18-year-old Brit Carys Copestake has offered her virginity for over $20,000 to help her pay tuition costs for her four-year physics course at Salford University. She used a false name to advertise herself on prostitute Web sites in an effort to keep her parents in the dark about the whole debacle.
The ad on the Web site read as follows: “Virginity For Sale £10,000.” In the description of the ad, Copestake wrote the following:
“Hey, I think the title says it all. I’m an 18-year-old virgin with student funds to pay and I’m looking to sell my first time right here. I’m brunette, 34C, green eyes, all in proportion and good looking.”
In an interview with a reporter, she said that she had been getting curious about the opposite sex and wanted to explore with someone to teach her, and that she found herself in a financial situation and this presented an opportunity to kill two birds with one stone.
After conversations with the reporter who was skeptical as to whether she was truly a virgin or just trying to deceive potential buyers, Copestake announced that she had found a buyer her first customer.
“I’ve been offered the money in cash and I’m going to do it this Thursday. Sorry I’m at work so I can’t speak any more.”
While this story certainly has an amusing factor to it, it’s also very unfortunate at the same time. I crossed out “a buyer” and replaced it with “her first customer” because in effect what she has done is gone and made herself a prostitute. Posting anonymous ads on Web sites with descriptions describing all of your physical attributes in an effort to attract a buyer for sex is clear cut prostitution. But I don’t think we can blame the girl completely, sure she is responsible for her actions, but let’s consider the circumstances of a young girl struggling to pay for university. Has our global society put such an important emphasis on attaining a college degree that now women are willing to become prostitutes just to get one? Unfortunately I think the answer to that question might be yes, although it certainly shouldn’t be, because the stark reality is that a college degree doesn’t do half of what it used to for graduates.

Would you sleep with women of your choice for $20k per? Maybe you make so much money with your blog you don’t need to, of course. However, you might still want to hesitate before casting stones. It would be less sensational and better investigative reporting to see what she does after this before declaring that she’s begun a career in prostitution.

Jon - while your cunning use of the strike-out function on your word-processor blows my mind, I can’t help thinking that your views are wooden and antiquated.
When I pay for a woman’s dinner and she blows me in the toilet cubicle later in the evening does that make her a prozzie? Because if so, they’re all at it. We’ve got an epidemic.
Oh, and Cindy, btw - when I said I would call you, I was lying. Using teeth is simply not acceptable.

there is no proof that she is a virgin and secondly, a really really desperate man would pay that much money to have something barely-legal in their bed

Are you kidding me? Surely she can find a job and take out student loans if she needs to like the rest of us.

So what if that makes her a “prostitute”?
Why is that even such a bad thing?
Prostitutes fall in two camps: they are either victims, in which case they deserve respect and help, or women who decided to get into it of their own accord, for their own reasons, in which case we should at least respect their free-will.
You can question if this girl is dumb or desperate or just smart, but why would you even blame her for what is clearly her choice?
It seems paradoxical to judge her as a victim, denigrating her right to her choice, then condemning her for trying to alleviate her circumstances under the pretext that it makes her a criminal.
That’s some twisted logic and it’s quite insulting to that girl.

James - that is a ridiculous idea. If I was “prostituting” myself every time I blew a guy in the bathroom after he bought me and a friend couple of drinks I would be in jail right now!

@ Carin - I doubt that she would be requiring people to put that much money on the line for something she couldn’t prove in action though.. and yes, there are PLENTY of dirty old men who would love to have a barely legal girl in their bed. I just got back from Southeast Asia (specifically Thailand) where on almost any given night you can find a man over 60 walking around with a girl under 20 hanging off his arm. It’s disgusting.
@ Renaud - I agree. I took a womens studies class a couple of years ago, and one of the reading we had was a transcribed interview with an ex-prostitute from Amsterdam. She said outright that she quit being a prostitute when the money left — specifically, when the government legalized it & started regulating it.
I can only imagine the same applies to this girl: if the money wasn’t right, she wouldn’t be doing it. And honestly? I think she could maybe pull in more money than she’s asking.

First, The girl took an interview with a reporter, yet she tried to hide it from her parents? That makes no sense to me. Second, how is she a victim when she is clearly putting herself in this situation, she has other options, this is a choice.

Are you b**ches f***ing kidding me? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU is a filthy wh*re. You’re just mad that this girl is getting serious money out of it instead of a few drinks and dinner like the rest of you. Filthy lying hypocritical WH*RES. [edited for profanity]

Well the question is what is her self respect level like and her self esteem. If she has to hide it from her parents that she is doing this maybe just maybe there is something wrong with her home life. However, she is 18 that makes her an adult and she is now the charter of her own actions in life. If she was doing this in the states she would actually get arrested if the right undercover cop busted her. Kind of floors me that their are less stringent laws elsewhere in the world. JMHO tho. I have had tight times in my life and I have thought about selling my body for money but I just couldn’t get myself to cross that line.

Warning…. Ranting…..
Jon, you have officially crossed the line in your opinions. How many times have you heard stories of young women being given very expensive gifts by older rich men. Cars, condos, jewlery, etc without any sex. Every time a guy takes you out on an expensive date this is exactly what he is doing.
I think this girl is genius in getting some schlep to give her 20k for her “first” time. There isnt any way he’s going to be able to ever know if she was full of shit or not.
Christine, why would you need to take out student loans when you can just spread em for 20k and be done with it. Your all forgetting that this isnt a girl in the US where things like this are so taboo. Sex in the UK is a whole different ballgame, they are no where near as prude as we are.
