Pope Benedict Unhurt After Attack On Popemobile
Vatican security officials wrestled a man to the ground today after he tried jumping into the popemobile in St. Peter’s Square. Pope Benedict, who is 80-years-old, was uninjured and continued waving to the crowd amid all the commotion. The attacker, who got within one meter of the Pope, is presently being held at the Vatican for questioning.
The man, who wore shorts and a red shirt, jumped over the protective barricades that line the route and hurled himself toward the open-air popemobile. The 20-30 year old man was unarmed and his nationality is unknown at this time.

Benedict’s predecessor, the late Pope John Paul II, was the first to use the popemobile, after a failed assassination attempt by a Turkish gunman in 1981, followed by a priest attack with a bayonet a year later. It will be interesting to see what the nationality of this man is. Perhaps it’s just some random whack-job off his rocker, but maybe it could be a further backlash in retaliation for Benedict’s harsh words against Islam last September.

What is the man’s name, and why is that information, along with anything about his political motives being reported?

NOT being reported.
Why no info on the man’s ID or his cause?
This just shows how the Vatican can suppress information with 800+ news articles which all fail to convey this info.

That’s a good point Douglas. Still no word on his name, but it is being reported that is he of German nationality.

This lack of info, with the Vatican getting to define this unidentified man in unflattering psychiatric terms (and their I believe honest statement that this was done to get attention) all should red flag this as a plausible Vatican cover up, perhaps some people who got politically screwed?
But which group?
The man was described as German. Is there any additional information yet on his geographical origins? e.g. which part of Germany? city? state?

I did some further investigation but couldn’t find anything else. Only that another German man tried a similar stunt on the late Pope John Paul II while he was still in office. Perhaps they’re inter-connected. What a conspiracy that would be.

The common factor is German nationality.
Perhaps they are inter connected?
But what might be the blacked out political cause?

No idea, I haven’t been able to track down anything further. Seems like this is buried, but by all means feel free to keep it going if you pick up any leads.
