Gisele Bundchen Slams Catholic Church, Says No One A Virgin
Celebrities often mistakes themselves for politicians, and seem to think that the rest of the world actually cares remotely about what they think on ethical and social issues. The reality is that celebrities are usually famous for reasons that are anything but moral and righteous. Here is yet another instance of such an occurrence.
Gisele Bundchen, one of the most famous supermodels on the planet, joined the birth control and sexual behavior debate in Brazil today, declaring that Catholic church opposition to condom use was “ridiculous” and that a woman should have the right to choose on abortion.
“Today no one is a virgin when they get married … show me someone who’s a virgin!”
Last month Pope Benedict visited the country and outlined the church’s firm opposition to abortion and contraception, in addition to speaking out against sex outside of marriage. Since then Brazil, the world’s largest Catholic country, has been embroiled in debate over sexual issues.
Bundchen claims that when the church made its laws centuries ago women were expected to be virgins. My question is what gives her the authority to speak openly about the historical ideology of the Catholic church? The church’s policies on issues such as pre-marital sex and abortion are longstanding and certainly won’t be changing anytime soon with conservative Pope Benedict at the helm, who was often at odds with the late Pope John Paul II’s efforts to modernize church policies.
Sorry Gisele, I used to like you, but now you’ve become yet another hypocritical celebrity that thinks they can use their star power to influence people into thinking the way you do. I do not know if Gisele herself is a Catholic, so I won’t bother going into a tirade on that, but her boyfriend Tom Brady is a strong self-proclaimed Catholic, which if that holds true this should certainly ruffle some feathers in their relationship.
Although she has a fan base of millions worldwide, she can’t come close to the influence and reach that Pope Benedict has over a billion Catholics around the world. So do yourself and us a favor Gisele, keep your religious views to yourself, nobody else — especially Catholics — wants to hear them.

This woman should not be speaking or giving interviews. These messages are read and heard by teens. There are many institutions and organizations who have been working so hard to teach our teens about prevention and celibacy. This type of speaking out by a person teens look up to is very irresponsible. Thank you for your post and I hope more people begin to realize just how immoral these celebrities are.
Gisele is not a good woman or she would not be dating a man who is about to be a father.

Is this woman for real?? How can Tom Brady stand to be with this woman? She goes against everything that he was raised to believe in. This is the woman that he has abandoned his pregnant ex for???? Who is she to say no one is a virgin? Just because she has slept with more men than she has fingers and toes is no reason to assume everyone else has.

Just when I thought Gisele could not be any more stupid …… boy was I wrong!!! She sounds like a non-educated, high school drop-out (oh … actually she is) who should really be coached, by her peeps, to not speak at events. I’m going out on a limb to say that Tom is obviously not attracted to her IQ! WOW … she really is an ignorant woman!

I sure hope that this woman is never in a position to work with youth of any kind. How can Tom Brady let this woman anywhere near his child? This woman also said that a four month of fetus was nothing. No more than a grain of sand. She said a woman should be able to abort this “nothing” if they dont have the money or desire to raise a child. Is she for real? How about adoption? Why doesn’t she promote adoption instead of using abortion as a method of birth control? What a slam against all those parents unable to have children who would love to adopt. I cannot believe the nerve of this woman. Why doesn’t she just stay in Brazil?

So what did we all learn today? That Tom Brady does not want to discuss his soon to be born child…ever. That he seems to feel that what he is planning to do on the field this season to be more important than the mixed messages he is sending out to the youth of America whom he calls himself a role model to. Then we have his airheaded GF Gisele saying on the same day, different press conference a world away, that abortion is AOK, even at the advanced stage of 4 months, cos “hey, it is a mere speck”. And we also have her knocking the American president. OK, so we all do that. BUT, we are americans, she’s not. She lives here, works here, but she doesn’t pay taxes here. So she doesn’t get a say or a vote. Then the assinine ‘virgin’ comment. Again, she shuld just shut up. What gives her or Brady the right to set themselves up as role models and then live their lives in the dumpster? What a waste. neither one of these two ‘role models’ should EVER get to speak in a public forum. And the condom remark? LOL. Perhaps if her lover-boy had suited up a ways back there wouldn’t be a little one on the way soon.

Oh can I please comment can I can I. While I do not care for the way in which the catholic church has handled or mis handled the huge sexual abuse by priests problem I still respect the fact they are one of the oldest most traditional religions in the known world. Gisel has overstepped her bounds by trying to go toe to toe with the Pope. I wonder if she was ever taught to respect her elders or to have any respect for any one for that matter. Mebbe she should go back to Brazil and let the intellegent Americans speak for us at events.

Kaka, a Brazilian who plays football in Milan, was a virgin until his marriage 2 years ago. He still wears T-shirt that says he belongs to Jesus under his team jersey. It was very distasteful of Gisele to slam her own countrymen. I too saw the Bodyworlds exhibit, but my perception of the fetus exhibit was that a life was lost in the automobile accident that also claimed the life of the mother whose body was donated.
Gisele is very stupid to make these comments while she herself does not practice a religion.

Anyways, she’d meet millions of unmarried virgins if she travelled anywhere beyond the Americas and Europe.

We should pray for this lady and for people speak to our children. These words are read and heard by people that trust whatever a idol, model speak out. It is very sad that she expressed so irrelevant about the life. She is beautiful but she needs to grow up as a person. Maybe we should start praying more and shout out this messages as a protest. Why do we like to read and know about celebraties????………… This type of speaking out by a person teens look up to is very irresponsible. TI am wasting my time hearding so many gossip. I hope people begin to realize just how immoral these celebrities are.
