Arkansas GOP Leader Wants More Terrorist Attacks
What is wrong with this guy? In a recent interview, Arkansas Republican Party chairman Dennis Milligan told a reporter that America needs more terrorist attacks on its soil so that the people will appreciate the work that President Bush has done to protect this country.
“At the end of the day, I believe fully the president is doing the right thing, and I think all we need is some attacks on American soil like we had on [Sept. 11, 2001] and the naysayers will come around very quickly to appreciate not only the commitment for President Bush, but the sacrifice that has been made by men and women to protect this country.”
I’ll say it again for you while it sinks in: what is wrong with this guy?
He needs to be thrown in prison immediately. Does not the Bush administration classify anyone who seeks to cause harm to Americans as a terrorist? And does not one who says we need more attacks also condone those attacks? You can’t logically say that we need more attacks but not support them. Thus, if he is saying that we need more attacks one can rationally conclude that he is a terrorist, and he should be thrown in prison and charged with treason.
That may sound a bit extreme to some, but I have to believe that if a democrat made this statement there would be a much bigger uproar. Nevertheless, even if Milligan were a democrat he should still be considered a terrorist. Anyone who is able to make a statement like this is completely and utterly out of touch with reality.
It’s no surprise that this statement came from Arkansas, as that is a place far out of touch from any of the events that happened on September 11th. If he made this statement up here in New York City he would be tarred and feathered then beaten. OK not literally, but there would be probably be outrage and protests.
In reality there’s nothing that can be done about this statement. It’s been made, it’s on the record, it’s irrevocable. But what he can take away from this is just how separated our country has become, particularly in the arena of ethics and morality. This is not to compare one person’s morality to another’s, that is not for me or you to judge, but rather to highlight the emerging ideological differences between the “North” and “South.” It seems we haven’t evolved all that much since the Civil War, but we all remember who won that one…

His statement is flawed because if there was another terrorist attack on American soil, wouldn’t it mean that President Bush is, in fact, not protecting this country?

@ Angela - a great observation, unfortunately people like Milligan lack any common sense or logic.
