I think everyone knows that Gmail is far and away the best free Webmail client available anywhere, just ask anyone who uses it!
Seriously though, for launching so long after Hotmail and Yahoo Webmail, Gmail has garnered up a pretty decent market share that continues to grow each month. The reason for this post is that now we aren’t just saying Gmail is the best, there is actually some data to back it up!
As you may know, in February of this year Gmail aced the invite-only system and opened its doors to all who desired a Gmail account. What you might not know, however, is that from February 2007 to April 2007 Gmail’s market share of US visits rose 17%.
How about some demographics? Gmail users as a whole are young, wealthy, and tend to quickly latch on to new technological trends. 54% of Gmail users are between the ages of 18-34, and 18% of them are making $100,000 - $149,999 per year. In addition, Gmail users tend to be Facebook users more than other Webmail client users. Speaking of other Webmail clients, how did Hotmail and Yahoo Webmail add up? Well, just average…
