US Fighter Jets Violate Iranian Airspace

In a story that is more than likely NOT going to be reported by the mainstream US media, Yahoo Singapore is reporting that US warplanes have violated Iranian airspace in the Southwestern oil-rich province of Khuzestan, according to a local military chief on the Al-Alam Arabic language satellite news channel.

“Two US aircraft trespassed into Iranian airspace northwest of (the southwestern port city of) Abadan before flying southwest into Iraq,” a local Revolutionary Guards commander in Abadan identified only as Colonel Aqili was quoted as saying on the channel’s website.

Although Aqili did not elaborate on precisely when the incident occurred, he did add that “the planes left white vapour trails, attracting the local people’s attention.”

This is pretty ironic news as Iran kidnapped 15 British soldiers a little over a week ago for “illegally entering Iranian waters.” If true, it would seem to be a very provocative step by the United States, which, I do not think is in anyone’s best interest at the moment. Recall last week I posted Russian intelligence rumors about an impending US air attack on Iran this week on Good Friday.

I certainly hope that if true this was an accident on the part of the US, although I highly doubt it would be. It worries me what Bush and Co. have up their sleeves with respect to Iran. Just as Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called for a regional peace conference today and sparked hope around the world, the neo-cons in Washington seem to be ready to bring it all crashing down.
