Macbook or Macbook Pro?

I’ve wanted a Mac for a long time, a very long time. Finally, after several years of waiting, I am in the position to purchase one. So now, the question that naturally arises is, well, which one to get? It’s easy to get lost in a sea of desire in Apple’s Online Store (and their physical locations as well), so I tried to set up a plan covering what I wanted and how I was going to go about achieving it. After visiting the site numerous times as well as the local Apple Store, I have come to the conclusion that the 24-inch iMac is a marvel of modern computing and I would greatly like to have it. However, before investing $2000+ into a computer that runs something I have never used, I decided to start small and get my feet wet.

So the decision was to get a Macbook. After all, Borchers got one a few weeks ago and he loves his. I began to discuss the issue with my IT guy and he basically said not to bother with the Macbook and save up a little bit longer and get the Macbook Pro. As the Macbook Pro carries with it a beast of a price tag, I wasn’t too keen on the idea of dropping that kind of money on a laptop, so I took to the Google to conduct a bit of research.

In summary, my findings are that the Macbook Pro is better equipped hardware wise and more powerful (no surprise there), but that the Macbook is more portable and durable with a longer battery life. Basically, if you’re gonna be doing any heavy processor work such as 3D graphics, gaming, etc., then get the Macbook Pro. Otherwise, for your common everyday uses, the Macbook should be just fine. Not to mention the price differential.

So as of right now I’m leaning toward the Macbook, however with the way my mind has been indecisive on this issue lately that is certainly subject to change. I was hoping that anyone with any experience on this topic could share their thoughts; positive, negative, neutral, anything would be helpful. Thank you!
